J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages organized a Hussaini Mushaira in Srinagar

As part of its annual activity, Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture & Languages Friday organized a Hussaini Mushaira (poetic symposia) to honour the memory of Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who sacrificed their lives for upholding truth and righteousness. The mushaira was held at Iqbal Khomeini Hall, Zadibal Srinagar where
prominent poets paid rich tributes in verses to Imam Hussain (RA) and the Karbala martyrs. Eminent poets from different parts of the State fascinated audience with their poetic collections mostly aimed at rendering praise to the martyrs of Karbala. The poetic sitting, which evoked applause from the audience, eyes of most of whom were moist with tears, was presided over by Jnanpith awardee Kashmiri poet, Prof. Rehman Rahi. In his presidential remarks, Rahi praised the poets for their versatile rendering of poetic verses. He also congratulated the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for organising a successful Hussaini poetic sitting. Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini while speaking on the occasion thanked the poets for rendering beautiful verses. Stating that holding of events like Hussaini mushaira outside Academy’s premises was aimed at participation of poets of diverse backgrounds in the poetic sitting, he said that such steps were aimed to reach the unreached. “We intend to reach to every segment of the society and this mushaira is part of this outreach endeavour, which addresses the long pending demand of reaching out to the target public,” Hajini said, adding more such events were in the pipeline. “Next such poetic sitting will be held at Dab Ganderbal on October, 19 followed by a Hussaini mushaira at Baramulla,” Hajini disclosed. Poets who recited their verses in today’s mushaira include Prof Rehman Rahi, Prof. Mohammad Zaman Azurda, Rafiq Raaz, Shoukat Ansari, Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Nisar Budgami, Ghulam Hassan Gamgeen, Mir Shabir, Dr. Farooq Fayaz, Shabib Rizvi, Said-ud-Din Saidi, Ayub Sabir, Abid Gowhar, and Advocate Ghulam Ahmad Niyazi.
