Mehbooba lays foundation of Industrial Estate at Wuyan

CM inaugurates Rs 8.50 cr modernized Pampore Joinery Mills

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid the foundation stone of an industrial estate at Wyun (Pampore) which would be developed by SICOP at an estimated cost of Rs. 29.31 crore.

The Industrial Estate would be set up over an area of 272 kanals of land which would make up for 149 units and it would be part of a larger Institutional Area being developed there. This has been done by the State Government to address the unit holding issues of young entrepreneurs and ensure single window marketing facility for their products.

On the occasion, representatives of business community also met the Chief Minister. They thanked the Chief Minister for smoothening the process of granting NoC for setting up of industrial units in the State. They also thanked her for the direction to set up land bank in the State while demanding early notification of procedures under SGST.

A deputation of local Auqaf committee also met the Chief Minister on the occasion and sought development of a playfield on the nearby piece of land and augmentation of the local health centre.

          Mehbooba Mufti also inaugurated the modernized Pampore Joinery Mills which has been accomplished at a cumulative cost of Rs. 8.50 crore. Under the modernization project latest machinery has been installed to improve the quality and quantity of the produce and it is expected that after this the joinery Mills would be making an annual profit of Rs. 5.33 crore during the second year of operation. The modernization project has been completed in record time of 18 months.

The Chief Minister went round various units of the Joinery Mills and even inaugurated the showroom. She evinced keen interest in the wood works put on display and directed proper and creative designing of the products.

The Chief Minister also met deputations of several employees of these Corporations and sought their feedback.

Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga; Minister of State for Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Andrabi; Minister of State for Forests, Mir Zahoor Ahmad; Vice Chairman, JK Minerals, Gulzar Ahmad; Commissioner-Secretary, Industries & Commerce, Shailendra Kumar; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Khan; heads of several Departments and Corporations and officers of district administration  were present on these occasions.
