In order to formulate plan for conducting mock drills regarding disaster management in the district, a meeting of concerned officers was today chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Bashir Ahmad Khan.
The meeting thoroughly discussed arrangements regarding conduct of disaster management mock drills across the district. It was given out that various mock drills for specific types of disasters will be conducted at Boniyar, Sopore, Tangmarg, Watergam and other places of the district.
The ADC said organising such mock drills is aimed at identifying the level of preparation regarding disaster management. Locals and school children will also be involved in the mock drills.
The ADC directed the officers to nominate resource persons from each government department, who will be provided special disaster management training, and will then serve as trainers at the district level.
While mentioning the fact that preparedness and coordination between different departments is the key to combat disasters, the ADC highlighted the need for formulating an efficient disaster management Plan.
Officers form PHE, R&B, Irrigation, Fire and Emergency services departments and Tehsildars were present during the meeting.
