Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr Pawan Kotwal today convened a high level meeting to finalize the arrangements for Beating Retreat function to be held at MA Stadium onJanuary 29th here.
Governor N N Vohra will be the chief guest in the function.
The meeting was attended by Director Education, Smita Sethi, SSP Jammu, Uttam Chand, SSP Security Jammu, Ramesh Angral, SSP Traffic, Mohan Lal, ADDC Jammu, Anuradha Gupta, Joint Commissioner JMC Jammu, R S Jamwal, besides senior officers from Army, PDD, Health, Sports Council, Youth Services & Sports, Fire and Emergency Services, Hospitality and Protocol, JKSRTC, JKAACL, State Motor Garages, SRTC.
Divisional Commissioner appreciated all the concerned departments for making Republic Day Celebrations a grand success. He exhorted upon all agencies to ensure that all necessary arrangements are put in place well in time for Beating Retreat function.
Divisional Commissioner said that the entry for the function is open to everyone and appealed public to reach the venue to enjoy the colourful event in large numbers. The function will be marked by band display comprising brass and pipe bands of Army and J&K Police.
Divisional Commissioner issued specific instructions for smooth conduct of the Beating Retreat function. He directed Police and Traffic departments to ensure adequate arrangements of security and smooth flow of traffic. The Youth Services and Sports and Education Departments were asked to ensure maximum participation of school children in the ceremony.
Dr. Pawan Kotwal while discussing the arrangements directed the Health department to make available ambulance service at the venue. Accordingly, the Fire and Emergency Services was asked to keep available fire tenders at the venue and Jammu Municipal Corporation was asked to ensure cleanliness at the venue site. SRTC were asked to ensure sufficient number of vehicles for transportation of school children and general public so that they reach the venue well in time.
He also reviewed the preparations with regard to firework display to be conducted by J&K Armed police on the occasion.
The Beating Retreat officially denotes the end of Republic Day festivities. It is conducted on 29 January, the third day after the Republic Day.
