Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon today convened a meeting to review and discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming annual Shri Amarnathji Yatra and directed the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements well in time in this regard.
The meeting discussed various issues including registration of ponieswalas, labourers, accommodation, medicare and transport facilities, ration, boarding and lodging facilities, drinking water and power supply, sanitation and cleanliness, besides establishment of control rooms at all halting stations. The ATM and communication facilities for pilgrims were also reviewed in the meeting.
Action taken report on the decisions taken in the post-yatra review meeting held at Raj Bhawan on August 31, 2015 was also discussed in the meeting.
During the meeting, the officials of R&B department informed that repair and renovation work on the Sonamarg-Baltal road stretch has been taken up for the convenience of the Yatris.

The Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag and Ganderbal also informed the meeting that medical centres enroute Yatra will be set up and Emergency Operation Centres will also be set up at Sonamarg and Chandanwari before the commencement of yatra.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the security agencies to ensure convenient atmosphere for tourists while making security arrangements for Yatra. He also emphasized upon the officers of different departments to work with coordination and synergy to put in place all the arrangements before the commencement of yatra-2016.
Dr. Samoon stressed upon the concerned officers/agencies for making all arrangements in advance besides stocking of essential commodities, firewood and making other logistic arrangements at the identified spots.
Among others, Deputy Commissioners Anantnag and Ganderbal besides senior officers of line department attended the meeting.
