Secretary, Tourism and Floriculture, Farooq Ahmad Shah, today convened a meeting of officers of Floriculture Department and progressive flower growers, regarding the development of commercial floriculture in Kashmir.
On the occasion, growers put forth difficulties being faced by them for taking the trade to expected heights. An interactive session between officers of the Department and growers was held during which suggestions and demands of the growers in trade were taken note of.
The Secretary gave a patient hearing to the growers and called for awareness generation about the various welfare schemes regarding the floriculture trade. He stressed on the growers to avail benefits under various centrally and state sponsored schemes for their socio- economic upliftment and for overall progress of this sector.
He said the Chief Minister is taking keen interest to boost the floriculture sector in Kashmir. He said the CM has announced that Rose, Leelam and Lilly gardens will be set up in Kashmir for better promotion of floriculture of Kashmir.
Director Floriculture Muhmmad Hussain Mir, Director Tourism Mehmood Ahmad Shah and other concerned officer were present in the meeting.
