To take stock of Srinagar-Kargil road Chairman J & K State Legislative Council, Haji Inayat Ali today visited Zojila pass where snow clearance operation is in full swing in order to open the road for stranded vehicles. The Minister went to the snow clearance site to take stock of in progress clearance work and was informed that it will take a day or two to make the road traffic worthy. He inspected the snow clearance operation at India gate, Zojila and appreciated role of BECON, who are taking care of the road. He directed engineers of the BECON to intensify the clearance operations so that road is opened for stranded vehicles at the earliest.
The National Highway, connecting Ladakh region with Kashmir valley remained closed for the 4th day today due to heavy snowfall at Zojila pass and other places, following which hundreds of vehicles remained stranded.
While talking to stranded passengers at Sonamarg, Inayat Ali said that men and mechinary are at job and extra efforts will be put to open the road at an earliest so that the stranded vehicles on both sides of the Zojila pass are able to reach their destinations. He also directed the concerned authorities to provide ration and round the clock ATM facilities to the stranded passengers at Sonamarg.
