Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Saturday sought a “credible enquiry” to establish the number of Kashmiri pilgrims who died during stampede at Mina in Saudi Arabia.
Sayeed was speaking during the obituary references at the beginning of autumn session of legislative assembly.
Expressing sympathy with the bereaved families, he said there is no need for blame game on the deaths. “It is everyone’s loss,” he said.
Later the house was adjourned until Monday after the house observed two-minute silence in the memory of those who passed away in past six months.
The upper house also remembered the victims of two deadly incidents at Hajj this year.
Tributes were also paid to former President APJ Abul Kalam, and legislators.
