Kashmiri Pandits celebrate Shivratri (called Herath in Kashmiri) today.Shivratri festivities have started in all Kashmiri Pandit homes a few days back and will continue for a few more days.Today special Vatak puja will be performed in each and every house in the evening.Away from their home state, Kashmiri Pandits celeberate Shivratri with same enthusiasm and ferver which theu used to do in Kashmir about 27 years back.On this auspicious day Muslims used to visit Pandit homes and greet them especially one day after Shivratri called “Salaam”.
