Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari reviews Milad arrangements in Srinagar

Minister for Public Works, Floriculture and Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari on Tuesday reviewed the arrangements by various departments for Eid-i-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

The meeting was attended by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Asgar Hassan Samoon, DC Srinagar Farooq Ahmed Lone, Chief Engineers of PHE and R&B, Director CAPD, VC LAWDA Commissioner SMC,

The Minister directed the officers to ensure proper arrangements for the devotees.

Chief Engineer PDD informed the Minister that they have deputed additional staff at Dargah and other shrines to ensure proper maintenance besides ensuring uninterrupted power supply. He said the department has installed high mast lights for proper lighting in the area. Minister told the officer to ensure uninterrupted power supply in and around the Dargah shrine and other shrines of the valley where Milad is being observed.

During the meeting, RTO Kashmir said the department has arranged 530 additional vehicles in the city for ferrying the devotees to and from the Dargah shrine.

SSP traffic on the occasion said the department has devised a proper traffic route plan and the parking slots for the devotees and the same will be communicated to the people through print and electronic media.

Regarding sanitation Commissioner SMC said they have deputed staff in the shrines round the clock and are cleaning the premises of the shrine. As the inner periphery of Shrine is managed by Medical College Srinagar, the Minister asked SMC to depute more staff to the Medical College for ensuring proper sanitation of the shrine. The corporation has deputed 130 safaiwalas who work round the clock in four shifts. The corporation has also installed two mobile latrines in the vicinity.

Officials of Department of Health Services Kashmir said they will set up medical camps in the shrines to ensure medical aid to the devotees, if needed.

The Minister asked the PHE department to ensure proper water supply to the shrines and also to keep water tankers on standby in the area for drinking.

The Minister asked the officers to ensure arrangements at every shrine of the valley where Milad is being observed.
