Lal Singh announces Model Hospitals for Basohli and Dooru

Minister for Health and Medical Education, ARI and Trainings, Choudhary Lal Singh today said the Government has approved two more model hospitals for Kashmir and Jammu, adding that these hospitals are to be established at Dooru and Basohli.

          This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after inspecting the ongoing construction work of Model Hospital at Basohli in district Kathua today. He said with the health sector will witness a virtual turnaround with the earmarking of Rs 900 crore for upgradation and health facilities at the grassroots level out of the Prime Minister’s Rs 80000 crore reconstruction plan.

          Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania, Mission Director NHM, Dr Mohan Singh, Director Family Welfare Dr Baldev Raj Sharma, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, S Gurmukh Singh, Chief Medical Officer Kathua Dr Basant Kumar Sharma besides other senior officers of Health, R&B and Revenue Departments accompanied the Minister.

          The Minister informed the gathering that the model hospital at Basohli would be constructed within set time-frame on 80 kanals of land with the facilities of digital X-ray, blood bank, CT scan and staff quarters. He asked the Roads and Buildings department to gear up their men and machinery in completing the project within the stipulated timeframe.

         Choudhary Lal Singh asked the Director Health Services Jammu to immediately pay compensation to the people whose land has been acquired for the Model Hospital.

He issued instructions to the hospital functionaries to avoid caesarian deliveries and referral cases to the other hospitals. He said all the hospitals of the rural pockets and remote areas have been equipped with requisite infrastructure facilities with adequate staff and medicines.

          For further improving the healthcare facilities in Government hospitals including sub-centres of the State, Choudhary Lal Singh said that Health and Medical Education Department will be establishing a call centre at super-specialty hospital in Resham Ghar Colony which will be dedicated to the people on November 16 for redress of health related grievances. He said the Government is committed to provide quality healthcare facilities to the people in every hospital so that they could avoid admission in private hospitals.

          For improving the power scenario at Bani and Basohli towns, the Minister informed that the Government has approved Rs 49 crore for establishment of Grid Station in Basohli town. He said after dedication of the power station to the people of the town, the power scenario in Bani and Basohli towns will improve to a large extent.

        Earlier, Choudhary Lal Singh also inspected the ongoing construction work of staff quarters and Nursing College at Basohli town.
