Department of Tourism in collaboration with JK Mountain Biking Association today organized Mountain Biking event at Zabarwan Park with participation of over 40 riders from different affiliated clubs.
To facilitate tourist’s participation in the event, the Department of Tourism also opened a Mountain Biking Rental facility at the park where from they can rent out bikes to satiate their passion for adventurous sport.
Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah flagged off the event in presence of Director Tourism Kashmir, Mahmood A Shah and Deputy Director Tourism Riyaz Ahmad.
The riders completed a return journey covering 15 km distance from Zarbarwan Park via Parimahal, Cheshmashahi, Botanical Garden, Tulip Garden and Kralsangri.
Speaking on the occasion, Farooq Shah said they have opened the facility for the adventure lovers. “With the launch of this facility the domestic as well as the foreign tourists can head towards any hill station by taking our MTB cycles on rent”, he said.
Meanwhile, Amir Asad and Mehraj Qayoom were declared as best riders while 87-yr-old Ghulam Rasool was honoured as oldest cyclist in the event.
President JKMBA Asif Iqbal Burza hailed the department for establishing Mountain Biking Rental Facility at Srinagar.
