Mehbooba announces release of Rs. One Cr each to MLAs of Srinagar district

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today announced release of Rs. One crore each in respect of all the MLAs  of Srinagar District for rebuilding social infrastructure in their constituencies even as the District Capex Plan has been pegged at Rs. 149.54 crore for 2018-19.

Chairing the District Development Board meeting of Srinagar district here today, the Chief Minister also announced release of Rs. five crore to be kept at the disposal of SKIMS for establishing a Cancer Centre there. A similar release of Rs. five crore would be made for Jammu for establishing a Cancer Centre there as well, the Chief Minister announced. She also directed earmarking Rs. 10 crore for constructing Community Halls in various parts of the city, particularly Shehre Khaas.

Ministers, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Javed Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Ashraf Mir, Asiea Naqash; legislators, Ali Muhammad Sagar, Mubarak Gul, Shamima Firdous, Noor Muhammad, Moulvi Abid Ansari, Ishfaq Jabbar, Khursheed Alam and Anjum Fazili were present in the meeting.

Mehbooba Mufti directed the officers to undertake repair of lanes, drains, macadamisation of roads and strengthening of power distribution system in the Srinagar city, particularly Shehre Khaas, on priority adding that the allocations of Rs. One crore each be utilized for pacing up these works. She said there is a need for developing more parks and green spaces in the city and till the Smart city project kicks off these interventions should be made on priority.

The Chief Minister also directed immediate operationalisation of Radpora stadium and identifying a patch of land at Iddgah for establishing a children’s park there. She also directed completion of heritage gate by Tourism Department at Iddgah for which she asked the IGP Kashmir zone to sort out issues with CRPF. She also asked the Health Department to explore the possibility of shifting the shopkeepers at Gousia hospital to a nearby complexl and use that space for hospital activities.

The meeting was informed that five bridges are being commissioned in the city soon besides two each schemes under CRF and NABARD. Also an expert team from New Delhi is coming to Srinagar to survey the need for establishment of grade separators at various spots in the city to arrest the traffic congestion.

Besides, the meeting was informed that Cluster University, Srinagar and SPS Library complex at M A Road are almost ready for operationalization and two colleges at Zakura and Bagh i Dilawar Khan would be inaugurated by year end. Besides work on additional blocks at LD Hospital is on and a project for Rs. 19 crore has been projected for compensating the relocation of shopkeepers coming in the construction of Mini Secretariat, Batmaloo.

The Chief Minister directed to look into the causes of cost escalation of projects and check this unhealthy trend so that projects are not left midway for paucity of funds.

The meeting was also informed that projects worth Rs. 65 crore are under execution in Sports and other youth activities in the district.

The meeting was informed that to tide over the problem of dispruption in power supply the capacity of grid stations is being enhanced besides commissioning some new grid stations. Alastaing Grid station, the meeting was informed, is expected to be commissioned by October this year along the commissioning of Srinagar-Kargil-Leh transmission line. Also work on grid stations at Bagh i Ali Mardan Khan and Tengpora is going to be started shortly.

Also, the meeting was informed, the existing grid stations in the Srinagar city would be expanded in capacity by addition of more transformers to tide over the problem of frequent power cuts, low voltage and other issues. These measures on completion are expected to give major relief to people in coming winter from power disruptions.

Mehbooba Mufti asked the Chief Secretary to monitor the pace of work and capacity enhancement on these grid stations regularly so that these are operationalized before the onset of winter this year. She also directed the Divisional Kashmir, Kashmir to sort out the issues of land acquisition coming in the way of construction of some of these grid stations.

Later, the board approved an enhanced outlay of Rs. 149.54 crore for the district for 2018-19.

Chief Secretary, B B Vyas; Financial Commissioner, Housing & Urban Development Department, K B Aggarwal; administrative secretaries of all the Departments; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan; IGP Kashmir zone, S P Pani; heads of all the Departments; officers of Divisional and District administration were present in the meeting.

A rape case of minor girl reported in police station chanderkote

As per police details a 12 year old minor girl of Heman KarmaTehsil Ramban appeared in police station Chanderkote and lodged  a written application  there in which she alleged that on 11th May,  one person namely Chatoo S/o  Mool Raj  of same village obstructed her way at Heman Karma with criminal intention and forcibly took her to nearby fields  and raped her. He kept her in illegal confinement during whole night. Later , parents of the said girl after hectic efforts  rescued her from the clutches of the accused  person.On her complaint  a  case FIR No 25/18 U/S 341/376/342  RPC stands registered and investigation into the case has been taken up.

Deputations from several parts of the Valley called on the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti  today and apprised her of their problems and sought their redressal.

A deputation from Kamad village of Anantnag sought establishment of Health sub-centre at Kamad, replacement of existing 250 KV transformer at the local shrine and providing of computers to the local High School.

Another deputation from Anzwala area of Anantnag sought widening of Anzwala-Anchidora road, operationalization of Prakashpora-Anzwala- Shamsipora water supply scheme, undertaking renovation of the local shrine and adjoining areas and upgradation of Middle School, Anchidora to the level of High School.

A deputation from Kehirbal, Bijbehara demanded replacement of old Water supply scheme, establishment of fruit mandi in the area and macadamization of the Ranbirpora-A road.

Another deputation from Anantnag sought widening of  Larkipora-Bongam road via Kuchipora, improvement of Railway approach road from Dialgam – Setchan. They also demanded widening and improvement of Harnag-Khanabal, Harnag-Achabal, Harnag-Danter roads, restarting of construction work at the TRC Anantnag, fencing of playground at TB Shah, fencing of Mir Danter graveyard, construction of passenger shed near Railway approach road at the Wanpoh Station and open area gym at Wazir Bagh, construction of Utrasu-Najigund-Watargam road and bridge over nallah Bringi at Ashajipora and upgradation of Utrasoo Middle School.

A deputation from Dooru, Shahabad led by Syed Farooq Andrabi, MLA thanked the Chief Minister for establishment of mini secretariat and model hospital at Dooru. They sought creation of the post of Additional Deputy Commissioner and upgradation of other offices in the area for better administration and ease of people.

A deputation of representatives of Gujjar Bakerwal community also met the Chief Minister and sought opening of behaks in  Gurez and Tulail areas for grazing. They also demanded setting up of mobile schools and veterinary centres in the areas frequently traversed by members of nomadic community.

A deputation from Budgam sought upgradation of PDD receiving station at Beerwah.

The Chief Minister listened to the demands of the deputations patiently and assured them to look into the same in an expeditious mode.

Chief Minister speaks to Rajnath Singh, takes up harassment cases with him

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today spoke to Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh and brought to his notice some cases of harassment of people from Jammu & Kashmir at Delhi and Himachal Pradesh.

The Chief Minister requested the Union Home Minister to issue necessary instructions to the concerned agencies so that the people from the State, who are studying, doing business or working in other parts of the country, do not feel inconvenienced and they carry on their activities without any interference.

The Union Home Minister assured the Chief Minister to look into the cases and take strict action.

Power shutdown in Jammu on May 15th and 17th

In order to carry out development works by M/s IRCON International Ltd under R-APDRP scheme, the shutdown of 11 KV feeders is being observed.

During the shutdown, the power supply Nanak Nagar and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 15 and 17 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Similarly, the power supply to Channi Himmat and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 14, 15 and 17 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Likewise, the power supply to Trikuta Nagar and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 14 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Similarly, the power supply to Babliana and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 14 and 16 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Likewise, the power supply to Sainik Colony and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 15, 16 and 17 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Similarly, the power supply to Channi Himmat and its adjoining areas shall remain affected on May 14 and 16 from 8 am to 12 noon.

Naeem Akhtar condoles demise of Kashmiri artist Prithvi Nath Koul Sayil

Minister for Public Works and Culture, Naeem Akhtar has condoled the demise of noted Kashmiri poet, painter and calligrapher, Prithvi Nath KoulSayil, who passed away yesterday.

In his condolence message, the Minister said the deceased was a noble soul who made immense contribution to the field of poetry and calligraphy by his works that have been acclaimed across the world.

“With his death, Kashmir has lost a noble human being and an artist whose sharp insights into our culture, depicted through his life’s works including books and paintings, were unparalleled in their intellectual depth. It is a moment of great grief not only for Jammu and Kashmir but the entire artist community,” Akhtar said.

Akhtar extended condolences to the bereaved family of Prithvi Nath KoulSayil and artists on behalf of the Jammu and Kashmir government, and prayed for strength to the family for tiding over this moment of grief. He said the deceased will be remembered with great reverence for times to come and his contributions will continue to inspire the coming generations.

Minister for Finance and Labour & Employment, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today held a Public Durbar at Srinagar to address the public grievances and take firsthand account of the problems being faced by the people living in the city.

A large number of people including prominent citizens and youths participated in the durbar and interacted with the minister. They apprised the Minister about their problems and developmental needs and sought redressal of their grievances.

Delegations from Natipora, Chanapora, Nowgam, Sanat Nagar, Rawalpora, Hyderpora, Bagh-e-Mehtab flagged many issues before the minister with regard to repairmen of roads, availability of drinking water, regular electricity, availability of ration and many other issues of public interest.

Minister gave patient hearing to the people and assured that their genuine demands will be redressed. Minister also passed on-spot directions with regard to various grievances flagged by the locals.

Bukhari said they have prioritized the works according to their importance and are being done accordingly. Interacting with the deputations, the Minister said that state government is working tirelessly for equitable development in all the three regions of the state.

He said the present dispensation in Jammu and Kashmir has tagged public welfare and equitable development as thrust areas and it will continue with its policy of reaching out to the people in order to mitigate their sufferings on account of various day to day issues.

Dy CM reviews progress on upcoming JKEDI campus

Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta today inspected pace of progress on Jammu campus of Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) coming up here at Industrial Estate, Bari Brahamana.

This was first visit of Kavinder Gupta to the Institute after assuming the charge of Minister for Industries and Commerce.

The Deputy CM examined the blueprint of the project and inspected the present status of the work. He directed the executing agency to expedite the pace of work to meet the set deadline.

He complimented JKEDI for the good work it has done and urged the management to ensure the completion of project as per the schedule so that the youth of Jammu in large numbers can avail the benefits of the schemes being implemented by the Institute.

On the occasion, Director JKEDI, Dr. M I Parray briefed the Deputy Chief Minister about various components of the upcoming project.

Deputy Chief Minister was informed that the Jammu campus of JKEDI is coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 87.13 crore with four-year deadline set for its completion in all respects. The project includes the cost of 63 kanal land acquired from JK Minerals Ltd.  The campus will have incubation centre, a hostel, library and other interactive facilities for young entrepreneurs.

The infrastructure which primarily includes an Administrative Block, a Public Relations & Counseling Section, a Model Career Centre (MCC), a Guest House, Hostel Building and a Centre for Trainings and Skill Development (CTSD) besides security posts is scheduled to be completed in three phases.

The foundation of the campus was laid by the   Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on July 09, 2017 and the work of Phase-I comprising of Administrative Block, Public Relations & Model Counseling Centre, Guest House, and other allied works to be completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 21.06 crores, commenced on November 14, 2017.

Out of this, the construction of Public Relations Office & Model Counseling Centre was completed in the month of February 2018 and it was e-inaugurated by the Chief Minister, on February 26, 2018 which enabled the Institute to start its operations from the new campus. The guest house and other allied works in phase-I of the project are expected to be completed by July 2018.

The project has been designed to create an efficient, aesthetic environment, set amongst gardens, to respond to the aspirations of the people, in architecture, respecting the region, all cased in a sustainable solution.

In second phase, the hostel building shall be constructed for the aspiring entrepreneurs who come to attend various training programmes from the remote areas of Jammu division at an estimated cost of Rs. 19.34 crores. The construction under phase-II of the project is scheduled to be completed within a period of one year.

In the third phase, the Centre for Training and Skill Development and Centre for Incubation and Business Acceleration (CIBA) will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 42.48 crores.

The Dy Chief Minister congratulated the Director JKEDI, Dr. M I Parray and the staff of the Institute for their efforts in encouraging the culture of entrepreneurship in the State. He urged upon the institute faculty to further strengthen their efforts so as to make people realize that there are ample opportunities of earning livelihood for the educated youth of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, besides government jobs. He hailed the role of the department in opening up new employment avenues by enhancing the skills of educated unemployed youth thus empowering them to take up self-employment and entrepreneurship as their career.

Police version on Pulwama encounter

On a late Friday night, a joint patrol of 55 RR, 182 &183 Bn CRPF and Pulwama Police was sent in for carrying out searches inside the village at Chinar Bagh Mohalla Takiya in District Pulwama.

After receiving a specific tip of about the presence of militants inside the village, a joint team of Army, Police and CRPF began searches inside the village and as soon the search party approached towards the suspect house, the militants hiding inside fired indiscriminately due to which the house owner Bashir Ahmad sustained a shoulder injury and is stated to be stable now.

Area was immediately taken into cordon and the searches were intensified. However militants taking advantage of the darkness fled from the spot. The operation was later called off in early morning.

Besides in the initial exchange of fire, one CRPF jawan also sustained injuries and later the CRPF jawan succumbed to his injuries. Martyred jawan has been identified as J.D Mandeep Kumar No. 115160302 of 182 Bn CRPF.

Giving a major push to the connectivity infrastructure in the summer capital, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today threw open the first phase of Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh Expressway Corridor from Amar Singh College to Barzalla bridge here today.

Being built at a cost of Rs. 350 crore, the ADB funded project would hugely decongest the traffic on the road towards Barzalla and Srinagar Airport and the time to cover the area would also be reduced by a great measure.

Ministers, Naeem Akhtar, Syed Altaf Bukhari, Muhammad Ashraf Mir and Asiea Naqash; MP, Fayaz Ahmad Mir; several legislators; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan and other senior officers of divisional and district administration were present on the occasion.

The Natipora limb of the project is going to be made trafficable within two months and the whole 4-lane flyover spanning more than one and a half kilometres would be made functional by the year end.

The project is being executed by the Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency (JKERA).

Earlier, the Chief Minister was briefed about the salient features of this ambitious project by the CEO, ERA.

The project missed the original deadline of completion due to the unrest of 2016 and floods of 2014.

Beauty of Jammu & Kashmir
