There will be only one way traffic on Srinagar Jammu national highway tomorrow on 11th February.Vehicles will be allowed to move from Srinagar to Jammu only.

Education Department to continue CM’s Winter Tutorial Programme

The state government has accorded sanction for continuation of CM’s Winter Tutorial program for the current session and in this regard Chief Education Officers (CEO) have been directed to identify suitable/centrally located high and higher secondary schools to start the classes at the earliest.

          According to Director School Education Kashmir, in the first instance 780 tutorial centers with adequate infrastructure in High and Higher Secondary Schools shall be started for all subjects and streams at secondary and higher secondary level from class 8th to 12th. The students who have appeared in the class 12th examination in the month of November-2016 shall be covered for remedial teaching. The order further reads that the coaching shall comprise of remedial teaching for the previous class for the first month and afterwards the coaching shall be imparted for the teaching of syllabi of new classes.

          According to the order the scheme will be rolled on 27 December 2016 in all designated centers and the timing shall be from 11:00AM to 3:00 PM.

          The CEO’s have been directed to ensure that the identified centers shall be made functional immediately by arranging adequate teaching and non-teaching staff, logistics like proper heating and seating arrangements, TLM, ICT facility, LCD projectors, copier, help desk and chowkidar (watchman). According to the directives, CEO’s shall identify best faculty for such centers giving preference to experience/merit and in view of last year report and one best English Teacher shall be arranged for each centre without fail.

          The Directorate has also put in place a system for ensuring periodical review of the teaching/learning process taken place in the centers. A divisional level monitoring team headed by the Joint Director (EE) DSEK shall make regular visits to the faculty established in each district and access the performance of the faculty members. The gazetted officer, most preferably concerned Principal of the Higher Secondary, shall be nominated as overall I/C for the cluster and his/her contact be notified and communicated to DSEK and Principal SIE Kashmir.

          The CEO’s have been asked to ensure that the banners/hoardings of appropriate size shall be displayed in the said centers conspicuously so that the centers are identified from distance. According to the order the expenses incurred on the smooth management including heating/TLM etc shall be debited to the registration fee collected from candidates. CEOs have been directed to ensure that one time heating/logistics charges of Rs 300 per student for class 8th and Rs 400 for class 9th and above shall be collected from selected candidates at the time of admission and accounts shall be minted properly by the Incharge Centre.

Mehbooba launches Scooty scheme for girl students

CM inaugurates Women’s Degree College at Pulwama

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today said empowerment of women is key to the development of the State. She asked girls to focus on education as it is the only stream which has the potential to bring about the desired social change.

Addressing the students after inaugurating the new building of the Government Women’s College, Pulwama, the Chief Minister said women hold an important place in our society and their empowerment would signal a positive turnaround in our society. She asked the students to attain different skills so that they not only become educated but empowered as well.

Mehbooba Mufti asked the students to take their studies seriously so that after attaining education they are able to contribute positively to the society. She also laid stress on equal importance of curricular and extracurricular activities. She advised students of the college to take active interest in sports activities as well. She said importance of education has been reiterated time and again in Islam and other religions.

The Chief Minister enumerated several steps her Government has taken for the welfare of womenfolk in the State. She said schemes like Laadli besides the scooty scheme would bring about the desired change among the women of the State.

Minister for Finance, Dr. Haseeb A. Drabu and Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar also addressed the gathering.

Earlier, the Chief Minister launched the scooty scheme for meritorious girl students of Pulwama district.

According to the Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Srinagar, all Food Business Operators including retailers, wholesalers and manufacturers have been asked to approach nearest Khidmat Centre (CSC) for grant of license/registration failing which action under FSSA shall be initiated against them.

The charges of uploading application form and other relevant documents for grant of license/ registration is Rs 20 while as charges of Rs 5 have been fixed on account of printing of license ‘registration certificate in black and white printing and Rs 10 for colour printing.

CM reviews development scenario at Pulwama

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today laid foundation stones of Rs 40 crore bridges over Rambiarah and Romshoo nallahs connecting several villages of Pulwama, Shopian and Budgam districts. These bridges would be constructed by the Department of Relief, Rehabilitation, Reconstruction & Disaster Management and would be completed within two years under World Bank-funded Jhelum-Tawi Flood Recovery Project.

The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone of a bridge over Rambiara nallah at village Trenz in Shopian district. The bridge on its completion would connect Mohanpora, Babkhidar and Imam Sahib in Shopian district with Pulwama district in Sheikhpora, Arihal village.

The 275 metre long bridge would be built over a cost of Rs 25.82 crore and would be completed within two years.

Earlier, the Chief Minister laid the foundation of 150 metre double lane tressed bridge over nallah Romshi at Rohmo village in Pulwama. To be built over a cost of Rs. 15.33 crore, the bridge is expected to be completed in two years. The bridge will connect district Pulwama with Pakherpora and Chrar-e-Sharief in district Budgam.

Minister for R&B, Abdul Rehman Veeri; Minister for Finance, Dr Haseeb Drabu, Deputy Commissioner, Pulwama, Muneer-ul-Islam and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

Later, the Chief Minister reviewed the pace of developmental activities in the district at an officers meeting.

Mehbooba Mufti directed the district administration to expedite the pace of works at the projects taken in hand in the district. She asked the officers to prioritize the components of works which can be taken up during winter months. She also directed the district administration to prioritize the liabilities which could be cleared before the onset of next financial year.

The Chief Minister asked the PDD authorities to undertake mechanical and rotational augmentation of electricity distribution so as to minimize the difficulties of people during winters. She asked the PHE Department to look into the complaints of drinking water scarcity in villages of Babhar and Drussu.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner Pulwama briefed the meeting about the developmental scenario in the district.

The meeting was informed that the ambitious Pulwama Circular Road project has been completed and the Nursing College at Pulwama has been made functional. Similarly, work on land acquisition for the proposed AIIMS at Awantipora would start soon while as paper work for the land acquisition of approach road to the campus is going on, the meeting was told.

The meeting was also told about the progress of upgradation work on some key road projects like Pulwama-Lassipora, Lassipora-Kamri and Awantipora-Tral and other infrastructure development projects.

In order to carry out development works by M/s IRCON International Ltd under R-APDRP scheme, the power supply to Krishna Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Commerce College and adjoining areas fed from 11 KV C-18 Feeder shall remain affected on December 21, 23 and 27 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Similarly, the power supply to Shakti Nagar, PHE and adjoining areas fed from 11 KV C-19 Feeder shall remain affected on December 21, 23 and 27 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Likewise, the power supply to Medical Sub-Station, Mahespura, Rehari and their adjoining areas fed from 33 KV Canal-Medical line shall remain affected on December 21 from10 am to 2 pm.

Similarly, the power supply to Medical College , Bakshi Nagar, Rehari, Mahespura and adjoining areas fed from 11 KV M-2 Feeder shall remain affected on December 23 and 27 from 10 am to 2 pm.

Bonigam becomes 1st cashless village in Kulgam

Bonigam has become first village of Kulgam district to go cashless with active efforts of CSC –e-governance State team, who trained 705 persons of the village to use Digital Payments and Transaction systems.

          The village which lies on Srinagar-Jammu national highway with 350 households took lead in the district to successfully implement cashless monetary system and e-governance programme.

          State Project Manager CSC-e-governance, VLEs and other concerned were present on the occasion.
