Pulse Polio Immunization Programme inaugurated at Leh

Executive Councilor, Agriculture Tsering Angdus inaugurated Pulse Polio Immunization Programme at District Immunization Centre, Leh besides flagging off a team of supervisors to various locations for supervision of the programme.

             Speaking on the occasion, The EC said that the day is very significant especially for the Health Department as India declared itself a polio free country.

            The district Immunization Officer Dr. Tsering Samphel informed that 11972 children under the age group of 0-5 years will be covered under the first round for which 1500 paramedic, ICDS workers, ASHAs and 75 supervisors have been deployed at 377 pulse polio booths in the district. He further informed that 18 mobile teams and 10 transit camps have also been established in the district while a polio both has also been established in Nubra sub-Division at Khardongla top (18000 feet), the highest moto-rable road.

            Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Yangchan Dolma and Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tsering Norphel was among others present on the occasion.
