A delegation of J&K Sharnarthi Action Committee (SAC), Friday, called on the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and expressed its gratitude for vigorously pursuing inclusion of rehabilitation package for one-time settlement of the families from PoK in the economic and developmental package announced by the Centre for J&K.
The SAC President, Gurdev Singh, said it was for the first time any state government had made strenuous efforts in meeting their long-pending demand of compensation for which an amount of Rs.2000 crore has been earmarked for disbursement under the package.
The delegation also presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting some of the other demands for early consideration of the government.
The members of the delegation who met the Chief Minister included Prof. Amrik Singh Sathi, Netar Prakash, Advocate Amrik Singh, Prof. Harbans Singh Yog Raj and Subedar Daulat Ram.
The Government has constituted a Cabinet Sub Committee headed by Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Kumar Singh which, inter alia, will recommend the manner in which this part of the package will be distributed amongst the intended beneficiaries.
Another deputation of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Jammu, also called on Mufti Sayeed this morning.
Led by Avtar Singh, the delegation apprised the Chief Minister about the issues related to the development of Sikh community.
A deputation of SC/ST community, led by Vice Chairman of State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of SCs, Bushan Lal Dogra, also met the Chief Minister and presented a memorandum regarding their concerns.
The Chief Minister assured the delegations to have these demands looked into for appropriate action.
