Shrine Board organises Yoga event at its Sports Complex

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised a Yoga event

As part of celebration of the 2nd International Day of Yoga, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organised a Yoga event at its Sports Complex at Katra this morning.

A number of children, prominent citizens, people of the area, pilgrims, officers and staff of the Shrine Board and officers and jawans of CRPF participated in the Yoga event.

          Mr. Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, started the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp.

A series of asanas and pranayam were performed under the supervision of Yoga expert Mr. Dayal Ram.

Speaking on the occasion, the CEO threw light on the benefits of Yoga, adding that we should make Yoga a part of our daily life. He thanked all those present on the occasion for their participation in the celebration of the second International Day of Yoga. He said that the Shrine Board has been organising Yoga and Meditation classes for the pilgrims, locals and employees of the Shrine Board at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.

          The CEO felicitated Master Prayas, a young boy of Katra, who gave a demonstration of various Yoga asanas on the occasion and Mrs. Kamlesh for taking keen interest for promoting Yoga among women of Katra area. He presented mementos to both of them as a token of appreciation. He also presented a memento to Mr. Dayal Ram, a Yoga expert, who conducted today’s event comprising various Yoga asanas.

          Mr. Sahu thanked the administration, police, CRPF, pilgrims, prominent citizens, students and all those present on the occasion for making the event a great success.

          Dr. Piyush Singla, Additional Chief Executive Officer, SMVDSB, Mr. Pankaj Gupta, Mr. Amit Vermani and Dr. Arvind Karwani, Dy. CEOs of the Board, Mr. Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer, SMVDSB, Ms. Neelam Khajuria, SDM, Katra, Mr. Sumir Kotwal, Additional SP, Katra, Mr. Rajinder Singh, OSD (Revenue), SMVDSB, officers and jawans of CRPF as well as officers and staff of the Shrine Board were among those present on the occasion.

          Earlier in his welcome address, Mr. Ashok Kumar, Director Sports, SMVDSB, dwelt on the importance of Yoga.
