A deputation of Councilors from Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh today called on the Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Nirmal Singh and raised several issues related to development of the region and other related things.
The deputation was headed by the Minister for Cooperative, Mr. Tsering Dorjey, Member Parliament Leh Kargil Mr. Thupstan Chewang, Chief Executive Councilor LAHDC and other members.
The meeting was also attended by Commissioner Secretary Power Development Department, Mr. Dheeraj Gupta, Commissioner Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department Mr. Bipul Pathak, DCP Power, Secretary Technical Power and other senior officers.
The deputation raised several issues related to Housing, Power and other departments which include release of remaining funds under UIDSSMT, allotment of funds for macadamization of roads in city and town, transmission and distribution of power in the region and also developmental of Micro/Mini hydro projects under development in Nubra and Durbuk blocks of Leh District besides the proper utilization of Geo Thermal Capacity of the region and also revalidation of unspent balance under Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY)
The Deputy Chief Minister while interacting with the deputation assured them that the government is committed for undertaking the holistic development of Ladakh region and in this regard special dispensation of funds would be provided in various sectors like R&B, PHE, PDD and Housing. He said that the Leh & Kargil towns would be covered under IPDS scheme of PDD sector for undertaking projects for augmentation of the power infrastructure besides the un-electrified villages of the region would be provided electricity under DDUJY.
Dr. Singh directed the officers of the PDD to prepare comprehensive DPR for augmenting the transmission lines and other electric infrastructure in the region so that the problems related to power sector are addressed in a proper manner. He said that under PM’s package, the areas of Leh and Kargil would be provided with special dispensation of funds so that the area gets the requisite amount of electricity and other related things.
The Deputy Chief Minister also asked the Housing department to release the remaining funds of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes to the Leh town besides also formulate comprehensive projects for the town under various State and Centrally Sponsored schemes so that the people living there get modern facilities of Urban living.
