Ten people were killed in an overnight fire in Ramban district of Jammu region, police said on Friday.
The fire broke out in Dalwass camp where four ways Nashri Tunnel construction workers were staying and they died due to asphyxiation and burn injuries, Senior Superintendent of Police Randeep Kumar . “We have identified five bodies so far. The dead includes earth mover operators, helpers and labourers from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and different places of Jammu and Kashmir,” Kumar said.
“The exact cause of fire is being ascertained. I reached the spot immediately after receiving reports about the incident and the fire was brought under control,” he added.
The five dead bodies have been identified as Rohit resident of Punjab (JCB Operator ), Showkat resident of Chandigarh (JCB Helper), Irfan Ahmad resident of Thathri Doda (With Abid Contractor), Des Raj resident of Drabshala (Pump operator) and Rakesh resident of Himachal (Cat opetator).
