Trekking expedition at worlds highest battle field

 

            The Indian Army deployed on Siachen Glacier- the highest battlefield in the world, in its pursuit to encourage the spirit of adventure and physical fitness, flagged off the Siachen Glacier Trek from Leh today. The trekking expedition comprising of 45 civilian trekkers including six  females was flagged off in an impressive ceremony by General Officer Commanding Fire and Fury Corps from Leh. The trek was preceded by kitting, initial training and acclimatization for seven days. The participants of the trekking expedition are volunteers from various walks of life to incl Government officials next of kin of soldiers and cadets of RIMC & RMS. This trek will go a long way towards enhancement of mountaineering skills in civilians ably honed by the Indian Army.
