The Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department has advised the general public not to venture near water bodies, including rivers and streams.
“The general public is advised to desist from going near river Tawi, Balole Nallah, Aik Nallah, Garore Nallah and other local nallahs of Purmandal Block, Satwari Block, Dansal Block, Bhalwal Block and other seasonal nallahs in district Jammu in view of the ongoing monsoon season as the discharge in the said river and nallahs may rise instantly resulting into untoward incident including loss of life and property” a I&FC notice stated.
The department has also advised the tipper and trolley owners engaged in extraction of minor minerals viz stone, sand and Bajri to stay away from the river and nallahs. The cattle rears are also advised to stay away from the river and nallahs to avoid loss of live stock and human lives in view of rains.
