A grand Zuljanah and Teezia procession was taken out in old city today on the 10th Muharram (Ashura) to pay homage to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala.
The procession which started from Alipora-Batakadal, was lead by Minister for IT, Technical Education and Youth Service and Sports, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari who is also President of J&K Shia association, culminated at Imambada Zadibal, Srinagar.
Thousands of devotees from Srinagar and adjacent areas participated in the procession, performing Marsiya and Navah.
On the occasion, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari threw light on life and martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and his companions who laid down their lives to preserve uprightness of Islam in Karbala. He said unparallel sacrifice given by Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is torch bearer for the Musilm Umah forever.
The procession was held under the aegis of Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association.
