To review the preparedness of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization (IPPI) campaign in the District, a meeting of District Task Force (DTF) was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner Mir Altaf Ahmad.
While speaking at the meeting the DDC directed the concerned officers to focus on high risk areas including slums and nomadic populations where chances of polio are on the higher side besides people should also be made aware about immunization. He exhorted that no child below 5 years be left without immunization in the district.
The Development Commissioner stressed upon the officers of health department, ICDS, social welfare, education departments to put in coordinated efforts to make the district polio free.
He stressed for organizing special awareness campaign by involving NGO’s for generating maximum awareness among the general public regarding Pulse Polio Campaign in the district. He emphasized on hundred percent success in the ensuring IPPI round Ist of 2016. He further stressed on officers to educate the masses about the programme and also involve Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRI) functionaries as they are close to the people and help in implementing these programmes. He also directed Chief Medical Officer, Budgam to monitor the whole programme in all blocks.
During the meeting Chief Medical Officer, Budgam informed that as many as 563 vaccination booths would be setup in different parts of the district to cover 100500 Lakh children of 0-5 years for vaccination. He also informed that 2252 personnel comprising Health Workers, ASHAs, AWWs, 6 transit camps, 113 supervisors and 10 district monitors will be deployed in the district for Pulse Polio Immunization campaign.
