In its commemorative celebrations of the remarkable victory in 1965 Indo-Pak war, the Army has set upon an adventurous 1700 km expedition over the rugged terrain of J&K to carry the message of peace, patriotism, solidarity and harmony.The expedition, aptly named as ‘The Victory Car Rally’ was flagged off on 12 Sep 2015 from Udhampur under the aegis of Northern Command and had reached Srinagar on the same day. The team comprising volunteer veterans, serving Army personnel and civilians visited Kaman Post in Uri Sector yesterday while paying their tributes enroute at the War memorials in Baramulla, Boniyar and Uri.The expedition today paid their tributes at the War memorial in Badami Bagh Cantonment before being flagged off by Chinar Corps for their second leg to Poonch for which the team will traverse over the old Mughal route. Before the flag-off, the expedition members also interacted with Lt Gen Satish Kumar Dua, the Chinar Corps Commander who lauded the team’s spirit and endeavor to sustain the glory of 1965 operations and pay tributes to the martyrs. He conveyed his best wishes for the safety and success of the expedition.The expedition is a commemorative event to salute the valour, fortitude and selflessness of the Indian soldier and pay homage to the national heroes who made the supreme sacrifice in the Indo-Pak war of 1965.
