Minister for Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bukhari Tuesday received brief on the latest reports with regard to the impact of yesterday’s earthquake in the State.
Chairing the 2nd review meeting in the last 24 hours, the Minister gave directions to the Divisional Commissioner to ensure immediate assessment regarding damage to property by the concerned Deputy Commissioners so that relief is paid to the affected as per norms.
DG Police, K Rajendra, Principal Secretary, Relief and Rehabilitation, Sandeep Nayak, ADGP, Home Guards and Civil Defense, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IGP CID, besides other senior civil and police officers were present in the meeting.
As per the latest reports presented by Director General of Police and Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, 4 people have died in the State including two females in Kashmir Division, while as one female and a boy in Jammu Division. It was also given out in the meeting that around 20 people have sustained injuries due to the earthquake.
With regard to loss of property it was informed that around 40 residential houses in Kashmir Division and 13 in Jammu Division have been damaged besides some non-residential structures have also been damaged.
The Minister also expressed condolences over the loss of lives in the State following the earthquake. In his message, the Minister expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for peace to the departed souls.
Earlier, the Minister also took a meeting of Relief and Rehabilitation Department and reviewed the status with regard to establishment of Emergency Operation Centers (EOCs) at the divisional and district levels in the State for quick and immediate response in case of any eventuality.
Principal Secretary Relief and Rehabilitation and other senior officers of the department were present in the meeting.
