The Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Samoon today chaired a meeting of officials and took stock of preparedness for snow clearance in view of snowfall predictions in the valley. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Chief Engineer MED, Executive Engineer R&B, officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other officials of various departments. Besides, the meeting was also attended by Deputy Commissioners of Baramulla, Budgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam and Kargil through video conference.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the officials of MED and R&B departments to ensure all arrangements including readiness of snow cutter machines in view of snowfall predictions. He directed the officials of SMC to keep men and machinery ready so that snow is cleared immediately after the snowfall. He also directed them to keep ready the dewatering pumps.
The meeting was told that 113 snow cutter machines have been kept ready for the purpose besides several machines have been dispatched to far flung areas of the valley in view of the ensuing snowfall.
The Div Com was told that control rooms have been established in all the districts of the valley including Gurez and Tangdhar so that people of these areas do not face any inconvenience.
