Divisional Commissioner Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon today asked the officials to work for restoring the pristine glory and beauty of Dal Lake by adopting a multi pronged strategy.
Chairing a meeting regarding acquisition of structures within Dal Lake, Dr Samoon stressed upon the concerned officers to comply with the court orders in letter and spirit. He directed the officials to start a comprehensive demolition drive to remove illegal structures in and around Dal and Nigeen Lakes.
The meeting was informed that LAWDA has demolished around 120 illegal structures during the last few weeks and 186 more structures have been identified which will be demolished soon.
Divisional Commissioner directed authorities of Srinagar Municipal Corporation to extend all assistance to LAWDA during demolition drives.
Regarding the water quality, Dr Samoon asked the officials to monitor it regularly and ensure safe drinking water is provided to people.
The meeting was informed that one more STP is required at Telbal and FAB technology used in existing STPs needs upgradation.
The meeting was also attended by Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Vice Chairman LAWDA and other concerned officers.
