J&K Academy of Art, Culture and languages announced a mega financial package for writers

J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages Thursday announced a mega
financial package for writers of the State for publishing their works
in regional and national languages as are enshrined in the State
Constitution. Giving details Secretary Academy, Dr. Aziz Hajini said that the
Academy has got approval of the President (Chief Minister) to release
of a subsidy amount of Rs. 24,81,401/- in respect of languages like
Kashmiri, Urdu, English, Pahari, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Gojri
respectively. As per details financial backing for 151 titles has been approved by
the Chief Minister, in his capacity as President Academy, in respect
of eight regional and national languages comprising Kashmiri, Urdu,
English, Pahari, Dogri, Hindi, Punjabi and Gojri.
Elucidating further Dr. Hajini said that under its subsidy scheme the
Academy has been providing financial backing to authors who are not in
a position to publish their literary works for want of resources.
“It is on account of this monetary help that we see most of the
authors of the State publishing their works, which would otherwise
remain unpublished,” he said.
“The books approved for subsidy were recommended for the same by
experts of respective languages to whom the manuscripts were sent for
evaluation confidentially,” Hajini added.
