J&K Cultural Academy Kargil organised 7-Days Folk Music workshop in Kargil

With Aim to revive and promote the Traditional Folk Music of Kargil Ladakh which is the intangible Traditional legacy of Ladakh region. J&K Cultural Academy Kargil [JKAACLK] organised 7-Days Traditional Folk Music  Surna (Shehnai) & Daman workshop at Academy Hall, Baroo Kargil under the Guidance of experts Ali Ghulam (State Awardee) Skarma Dorjey and Tsering Angdus experts in Traditional Folk Music of Ladakh who engage by Cultural Academy Kargil for this Tranning cum Worksop. The Inaugural Session of the Programme started with a scintillating musical show under the Guidance of expert. A large no of Traditional Musicians from different sector of  Kargil Ladakh attend the workshop. Agha Sayed Abass, Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil was the chief guest at the Inaugural function while Urgan Lundup, Chief Executive Officer, Kargil Development Authority, Kargil was the Guest of Honour. In his address, Aga Sayed Abass, Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil appreciated  J&K Cultural Academy Kargil for organizing this type of workshop for the benefit of Traditional Musicians of Kargil. He said that these kinds of workshops are the need of the hour for the promotion and development of a Traditional Ladakhi Music and he further assured to extend utmost support from Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil in future in this regard.
Urgan Lundup, Chief Executive Officer, Kargil Development Authority, Kargil  Guest of Honour said that the Ladakh itself got a rich cultural heritage and it is the responsibility of each Ladakhi to play their role in preserve and promoting our ancestral cultural legacy and pass on to the future generation,
Earlier in his wellcome speech Nazir Hussain, Deputy Secretary/Special Officer for Culture, said that the main purpose of the workshop is to promote and preserve Traditional Music Surna (Shehnai) and Daman,  which is intangible heritage of Ladakh. He also highlighted the importance and relevance of the workshop. He hoped that the participants will definitely get benefit of this workshop as it was highly job oriented workshop under experience expert guidance. He further said that the J&K Cultural Academy Kargil will organise more such workshops in order to develop overall personality of Traditional Musicians of Ladakh region.

Among who were present and spoken on the occasion was Shabir Hussain, Head Quarter Assistant to DC Kargil, Aga Sayed Towha, Assistant Director Tourism, Kargil, Gulzar Hussai Munshi, Executive Engineer REW Kargil, Ajaz Munshi, Curator Munshi Aziz Bhat Museum Reyaz Mushi, President KASCO,  Mohd Sadiq Hardassi,  Renowned Scholar, Sipte-Hassan-Kaleem, Cultural Activities and large number of trainees  was present  on the inaugural function of the Training cum Worksop.
