To increase shelf life and maintain quality of vegetables, Director Agriculture Kashmir, today inaugurated a Pack-house at Nawab Bagh Wakura Ganderbal. Chief Agriculture Officer Ganderbal, Soil Conservation Officer, Ganderbal, Chief Technical Officer of the department, other officers & a large number of farmers were also present on the occasion.
During an interaction with the officers, Director Agriculture Kashmir was informed that Pack-house has been constructed under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojna (RKVY) under the sub scheme “National Urban Vegetable Cluster Mission”. The pack-house has been constructed at a cost of around Rs. 3 lakh and a subsidy worth Rs. 1.5 lakh has been provided to the beneficiary.
The pack-house will provide storage facilities of 5700 cubic feet for vegetables, wherein farmers of the area can store vegetables and push forward for sale in Mandis.
Director Agriculture, Kashmir while interacting with vegetable growers of the area asked them to fully utilize the pack-house and benefit out of it through sending fresh vegetables to markets for sale.
