Paddar reviews winter arrangements, snow clearance measures

Minister of State for PHE, Forest, Irrigation & Flood Control and Animal Husbandry, Mr. Abdul Majeed Paddar Saturday convened a meeting at Rest House Kulgam, to review the snow clearance measures put in place and facilities being provided to the people .

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kulgam, Assistant Commissioner, Kulgam besides officers of R&B, PHE, Forest, CA&PD, Health, PDD, Mechanical Engineering and other departments.

The Minister directed all the concerned to ensure availability of essential services in the district during winter. He asked them to gear up the men and machinery to deal with any exigency due to heavy snowfall.

 Mr. Paddar enjoined upon all concerned to ensure clearance of snow from all lanes and by-lanes in the district besides keeping available machinery for dewatering of inundated areas if any during winter.

He directed the authorities of CA&PD to ensure adequate stock and supply position of essentials in the district including Ration, Sugar, K.Oil, LPG besides timely distribution among consumers so that there is no scarcity of essential items. He also directed the CA&PD authorities to mobilize its checking squads to curb profiteering, hoarding and black marketing in the district.

Mr. Paddar enjoined upon officers of Mechanical and R&B departments to be active for clearance of snow besides ensure availability of snow cutters and manpower so that people do not face any inconvenience.

The Minister instructed the Forest Department authorities to provide firewood to local Masjids.

PHE department was asked to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water and take up necessary repair works. The department was further asked to ensure the availability of water tankers in case of any problem in supply.

The Minister asked PDD authorities to ensure uninterrupted supply of power as per already notified schedule to the consumers.

Mr. Paddar urged upon district administration Kulgam to work in tandem and make sure that health institutions and other government offices are properly functioning so that people do not face any inconvenience during inclement weather situation.
