1 dies, 12 injured in road accidents

One person died while twelve others were injured in different road accidents across the valley.

A Tipper bearing registration number JK01-6827 collided with a Swift car near JVC Hospital on Bypass, resulting in on spot death of the car driver and injuries to 02 persons boarding the car. Both the injured were shifted to JVC Hospital for treatment. Srinagar police has registered a case in this regard.

Meanwhile, a Tavera bearing registration number JK14B-4591 skidded off at Daksum in the jurisdiction of Police Station Kokernag, resulting in injuries to 08 passengers residents of Padder, Kishtiwar. All the injured were shifted to hospital for treatment. Anantnag police has registered a case in this regard.

In another accident, a Tipper bearing registration number JK13B-4513 collided with an Auto load carrier bearing registration number JK01T-1391 near diver crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirgund, Pattan, resulting in injuries to auto driver Jan Mohammad Gojree resident of Nawa Bazar, Srinagar. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment. Baramulla police has registered  a case in this regard.

In yet another accident, a LP-407 vehicle bearing registration number JK01J-9332 hit and injured a girl Mehnaz Yaseen resident of Pandithpora Rainawari at Budubagh in the jurisdiction of Police Station Khanyar. The injured was shifted to hospital for treatment. Srinagar police has registered a case in this regard.

Toll reaches to two.The duo identified as Shakir Ahmad & Adil Ahmad Reshi. Earlier one boy was killed and two injured in a mysterious blast at Baba Sauline in Ganderbal Kashmir. According to reports some children were playing with an unknown device which blew up and killed one on spot and injured two others.injured were shifted to hospital in critical condition where one more boy seccumbed to injuries.

As per police officials, a militant captured on Wednesday in Udhampur is a Pakistani.“Identified as Qasim Khan, the young militant is from the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) group and hails from Gujranwala in Pakistan,” the officials said.Khan was part of a militant group that attacked the Border Security Force convoy killing two troopers and injuring 11 on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur Wednesday morning.

“He (Khan) was captured while escaping with three hostages,” the official saids.

Injured have been shifted to SKIMS. According to reports some children were playing with an unknown device which blew up and killed one on spot and injured two others.injured have been shifted to hospital in critical condition.

Lashkar militant captured live in Udhampur encounter.Hostages freed by forces.

ongoing operation in Udhampur district has been called off after an escaped militant was arrested alive by the security forces while all four people held hostage were released.MHA sources have confirmed that the arrested militant Kasim Khan aluas Usman belongs to Pakistani terror group LET.”Encounter triggered after a break between escaped militant who had held four civilians hostage but he was apprehended,” Danish Rana, IGP Jammu Zone said.

The militant reportedly was arrested by the members of Village Defence Committee.

He said all the hostage people have been set free while the arrested militant is being interrogated to ascertain details.

Meanwhile, the halted Amarnath yatra has been allowed to proceed towards the Valley.

According to sources, the militants had planned to strike the Amarnath Yatra and the Chenani-Nashri Tunnel in Udhampur. Earlier in the morning, two security personnel were killed while a militant was gunned down when terrorists attacked a BSF convoy on way from Jammu to Srinagar. “The BSF convoy was attacked this morning by the militants near Narsoo in Samroli area of Udhampur when they were heading towards Srinagar from Jammu,” police spokesperson here said.

He said the militants fired upon the convoy in which around 13 BSF jawans sustained injuries.

“The attack was retaliated, which triggered a gun battle,” he said adding that injured jawans were rushed to the Military Hospital while two of the injured BSF jawans succumbed at Chenani Hospital.

The spokesperson said one militant was gunned down and his body was also recovered from the encounter site.BSF Convoy left at 5:30am from Transit camp Jammu to Srinagar.

One civilian was killed in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan in the Pargwal sector of Jammu and Kashmir.This comes hours after India and Pakistan on Tuesday traded heavy fire at the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir.Earlier, The Border Security Force noticed suspicious movements near a border outpost in Kanachak area of the Jammu district during the night. “BSF fired to thwart any possible infiltration attempt after which it was quiet till morning.But at 6.05 am, Pakistan Rangers resorted to unprovoked firing at the BSF border outpost,” an official added.BSF retaliated effectively and heavy firing exchanges are underway.On Monday, the Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers violated ceasefire at four places on the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border.
