Road Safety Week celebrations in Udhampur

In continuation to the 27th Road Safety Week celebrations on the theme “Road Safety Times for Action” in the district, a free medical cum road safety awareness camp for drivers and conductors was organized by Motor Vehicle Department Udhampur in collaboration with Health Department in the premises of Assistant Regional Transport Office complex,  Udhampur, today.

            Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur, Dr. Chander Parkash was the Chief Guest, who formally inaugurated the camp in presence of Deputy Controller, Civil Defence,  Bodh Raj, ARTO Rajesh Gupta and  DSP Traffic Tilak  Rana.

            Speaking on the occasion CMO said that aim of observing such week is to spread awareness among the drivers, transporters and general people about the health related issues along with road safety awareness.  He said the role of a driver is very important for the safety of precious lives as lives of many passengers depend upon them during transportation. He said that organizing such camps would go a long way to make people aware about the rules and regulations of road safety and safe driving. He called upon the commuters to avail the benefits of such camps being organized by the department in near future also.

            Deputy Controller Civil Defence, Mr. Bodh Raj congratulating the organizers of the programme for holding such a meaningful camp for the people who are always engaged in providing services to the common man. He highlighted the activities being carried out by the civil defence organization to minimize manmade disasters. He stressed upon the people in general and drivers in particular to follow the traffic rules for safeguarding the precious lives.

            Assistant Regional Transport officers, Mr. Rajesh Gupta and Dy SP Traffic, Mr. Tilak Raj Rana also spoke on the occasion and informed people about the traffic rules, road safety, healthy driving and to follow all rules and regulations under MVA.

            Deputy Chief Warden Civil Defence, Advocate Swatantra Dev Kotwal conducted the proceeding of the programme.

    Among others, Team of doctors, transporters, representatives of driving institutes and a large number of drivers and conductors besides general public were also present on the occasion.
